Member of: Associated Artist of Winston Salem Oil Painters of America since 2009 Very briefly - I am a semi-retired Realtor from Michigan and just recently in June 2009 moved to the beautiful state of North Carolina (Winston Salem). With the encouragement of my great and loving husband, I decided to try painting. My first attempt was in acrylics - which I found very hard to move my paint and it dried too fast. So then I tried oils and I love it. I really enjoy painting on those rare occasions with my granddaughter, Lexi (age 9) and watching her interest in art. My husband and I love to travel so many of my paintings are from our trips - such as Turks & Caicos, Italy, St. John, Carmel, CA., Chicago, upstate New York and now, the beautiful state of North Carolina. I have just started painting plein aire (outside painting on the spot) which I have found to be my biggest challenge but a great learning tool. I have been able to attend some classes at the local art school which has a variety of excellent artist teaching classes, however, with our travels, I have not been able to attend any where near as many as I would have liked. So, for now, I well continue to study on my own, and learn from my good friends in the art community on line, including Ann - my best artist online friend who has helped me more than she well ever know. Thanks Ann..... |
